The Picks: WGC-Bridgestone Invitational
It seems like it has been some time since I’ve done “The Picks” for a tournament, so I figured I’d get back to it in honor of a healthy Tiger Woods making his comeback after a three-month hiatus.
So, here are my picks for the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational starting Thursday, (Aug. 4) at Firestone in Akron, Oho. Defending champion Hunter Mahan is back in the field, but find out if he’s in my Top 3 to win it.
The Picks: John Deere Classic
I just don’t feel like going through all the motions of picking a possible winner of the John Deere Classic, and saying why I picked each … So, here are my picks 1) Two-time defending winner Steve Stricker; 2) consistent Jonathan Byrd; and 3) complete gamer Brian Gay.
My sleeper picks are … 1) 23-year-old Jason Day; 2) Mr. I Used to Be Clutch Zach Johnson; and 3) volatile Andres Romero.
My apologies if you’re looking for some fantasy golf help, but I’m prepping for the City Open (July 9-10) at Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe.
Hit ‘em long and straight!

The Picks: AT&T National
There are two big-time things happening Thursday (June 30), and here they are: 1) It’s the day before July, and 2) It’s the day when the AT&T National gets under way at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pa., where Justin Rose is the defending champion.
See if Mr. Rose makes the cut in my picks.
The Picks: U.S. Open & The Golf Boys
European this, European that … American this, American that … it doesn’t matter where a golfer is from, it’s all about who hoists the U.S. Open trophy on Sunday …
Starting today (Thursday, June 16), Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Md., is the spot where the best golfers in the world will vie for the leaderboard’s top spot. Graeme McDowell is the defending champion, but does he have what it takes to win back-to-back U.S. Opens?
“Analysts” say the course calls for accuracy off the tee box. They also say long-hitters have an advantage. I’ve also heard target-shooters will have the upper hand because of the firm greens.
So, which way do you go? Here’s what I think … or just watch The Golf Boys …
